Well the UCLA cubs sure aren’t helping our case. Beating them will be less than a victory over NIU.
But, BYU is BYU and Greg Wrubell says if it weren’t for the points on turnovers BYU might have won. C’mon Whit had them take a knee at the end out of sportsmanship and we get this crap.
They so poo-poo it is really hard to root for them. But “Go BYU, Beat Tennessee” Ick

Wow, I agree you don’t chant that pre-game.
And don’t they live in a wierd world? I just popped over to cougarboard to see something about Tennessee like the posts here about NIU. But, no the top 10 recent threads are: 1 Basketball, and the rest are about: dirty Utes, Poo-poo, What is wrong with our recruiting?, Long ago against Utah, etc. Zero about their next opponent. Is their season over already or what?
I’m looking forward to the NIU game to see how the offense does and if a different but good opponent defense will lead to a more balanced run/pass ratio. Will Huntley connect deep? How ready will we be for USC in 3 weeks? How mcuh time will the 2 deep see? Stuff like that interests all of us looking forward, but they are still exclusilvely looking back.

Was this an ESPN production? If so it is ony normal. They mistakenly called Boise St the original bowl busters many times. BSU like BYU is in their stable.

You’re right and it makes us seem like perception obsessed BYU fans.
On Ute fanboards everyone hates Gordon Monson for being a BYU homer and on Cougarboard they despise him for supporting Utah. The truth is all the local media try and support all the teams and this makes diehard, colored goggle fans angry.
And yes they hyped BYU before the game so BYU fans would get excited. Playing up the next game as “really competative” is what they do as well as the coaches on both sides. Hell let’s sell tickets.
The real measure of respect for a program is the National Press who doesn’t have reason to support any “local” teams. (with the exception of ESPN and their contract teams ) By that measure BYU is irrelevant right now and Utah is one of the top dogs.
People quit whining about local media supporting local teams. Geez (make that a Napoleon Dynamite “Geez”)

Honestly I must use different media than you. I haven’t heard any criticism of the “poo-poo” comment. all I really hear from the media is that the Utah defense is excellent and Zack is a hell of a running back.
I’m not even hearing criticism of ZW for not going in front of cameras. People seem to understand.

You’re so absolutely right.
It is the fans. Arrogant class snobs who accept things like “trickle down economics” yet call themselves “followers of Jesus”. Holier than thou racists, misogynisits, and homophobes who think they are better because they have values???
In fact many of their “values” are 180 degrees from mine and it boggles my mind that they wonder why so many people dislike them. Even the most tolerant among us bristle at those who call themselves “better” and even more so when they embrace intolerant, and un-Christian attitudes.
With other schools the smack is just smack and it’s all just a game, but with them it’s personal.

Its the sportfan version for the “faith promoting story”. Totally invented and passed around cause somebody knew somebody who heard somebody saw something somewhere but it builds faith. These stories serve to bolster their “faith” in the fact that their nemesis has the most awful fans in the world. Sure they look ridiculous but any ridicule just serves the “Satan is agianst us” narrative. They are like the Trump suppprters who he said would support him if he shot somebody on fifth avenue. It is hopeless.
