Sione Fotu is great and the clear number 4 (former starter before his mission)
After Sione the next linebacker was Medlock.
The scary thing is that we will lose Reid and Damuni after 2024 and probably Barton (NFL)That leaves us Sione Fotu, Josh Calvert(who just can’t gain the weight), Owen Chambliss (who has essentially no experience) for 2025.
That is currently all the scholarship linebackers on the team.

You want to have an interesting experience.
Watch just Caleb Williams
11:04, 12:02, 12:30, 13:30, 13:55, 16:44, 17:26, 18:15
All by himself, there is only one moment when someone is sitting next to him talking to him. (12:30)
No pat on the shoulder. No good game. No it’s O.K. we’ll get em next time.
I don’t mind that he doesn’t shake hands with the Utes but nothing with his team.
I might be reading into things that are not there and he is an amazing quarterback but I wonder what kind of teammate he is. Does he even like his team? Do they like him? -

Nevermind, I found my answer on twitter. Apparently he broke an NCAA rule for international players and is going to a JUCO. That stinks.

a couple of surprises for me.
I didn’t see Trey Reynolds or Luke Felix-Fualalo on the roster. I guess they are transferring? Anyone know anything?
Some of the transfers coming into the U are on it like Diabate and Morris but I didn’t see Logan Kendall or Gabe Reid? Im’ guessing they are finishing a semester of school?

Dallas Vakalahi from 2022 class is going on a mission.
Viliami Pouha from the 2021 class is on a mission.
Nate Ritchie from the 2020 class has one more year left on a mission.
Sione Fotu from the 2020 class has one more year left.
Keanu Tanuvasa from the 2020 class is back from his mission and was listed as signed for 2022.
Salatoa Moeai from the 2020 class went on a mission but was not listed as signed for 2022, so I don’t know if he will come back this summer and be a late signee for next year or came back summer/fall and be on the spring roster for 2023.
Sione Vaki from the 2019 class is back from his mission and was listed as signed for 2022.
I don’t know if that is everyone but those are the ones I know about.

Here is a quote from coach Shah.
The quote comes from a public article on utezone.
It implies that Mataele will be playing outside and one of the safties will play nickel. My guess would be davis will play nickel and Latu will play free safety or vice versa. I guess Mckinney could also play nickel.
“In terms of changing positions, I only have the folks in my room that have been in my room,” Shah said. “We haven’t asked anybody at this point to change a position. We’ve asked folks to do more, but we haven’t asked anybody yet to change a position. We’ve been pushing and asking our kids that are here to know a little bit more. My nickel has to play outside corner; my safety has to be able to play nickel. That’s been the biggest thing right now.”
The quote comes from this article:

I was super happy with our passing game in 2019, 2021, and 2022. Not happy this year. So is that Ludwig or other factors? I don’t know.
-
utetasticParticipant
Honest question for you. Im not trying to be a jerk, but really curious about your opinion.
Here are our quarterback recruits that Ludwig has had a chance to work with.
Jason Shelley 2017
Jack Tuttle 2018
Cooper Justice 2020
Peter Costelli 2021
Nate Johnson 2022
Brandon Rose 2022
Mack Howard 2023Which of those guys did Ludwig fail with?
Shelley under Ludwig was good but left for playing time.
Tuttle left before Ludwig got here.
Justice is a back up at Linwood university
Peter Costelli hasn’t been able to find playing time at Troy or Northern Colorado
Nate Johnson could be the one real huge argument for not being developed from my perspective.
We just don’t know yet on Rose but supposedly he was the starter until injured. To me the biggest complaint should be lack of player evaluation. Some of those recruits are a big miss.

I am not positive that Huntley has improved since he left Utah. The numbers would say he has regressed. I realize it is the NFL and different situations but here are the numbers.
Utah 573att. 853comp. 67% 7325yards 8.6y/a 46TD 21int.
Utah SR. year. 220att. 301comp. 73% 3092yards 10.3y/a 19TD 4int.NFL 200att. 305comp. 65.6. 1754yards 5.8y/a. 5TD 7int.
