For comparison, Utah plays only two teams coming off a bye week: @ Washington and vs UCLA, worth noting that we will also be coming off a bye when we play UCLA. -
UteThunder started the topic The more I think about having Ludwig as OC, the more excited I get in the forum Football 5 years, 6 months ago
He wasn’t great his first time on the Hill, but he was good, certainly better than anything we’ve had since he left.
I think we will be able to count on having at least a competent offense while he is here. I just hope he can get things rolling right out of the gate. -

UteThunder started the topic BYU to the AAC in the forum They So Poo Poo 5 years, 6 months ago
I feel like I heard/read recently that BYU was supposed to announce a new TV deal with ESPN but it was delayed because they had to work out some unexpected/last minute details.
Could it be that the details that need to be worked out are BYU joining the AAC? There’s been an awful lot of talk about the possibility of them joining and I wonder if…[Read more] -

The lack of civility is what drove me away from that site a couple of years ago. I wouldn’t have minded the political discussions at UteFans if they were respectful, but without exception, any political discussion there always turned into one side bashing the other (typically liberals doing the bashing) and it just wasn’t fun to interact there…[Read more]

UteThunder started the topic Best Offensive Player in the forum Football 5 years, 7 months ago
Who is the best offensive player on this year’s team?
The obvious candidates are Moss, Huntley, and Covey, but maybe Dixon, Simpkins or Enis jump up there, especially with Covey coming off of multiple injuries.
I say Moss is our best offensive player. He is the only sure-fire NFL skill player we have right now and he is just a beast. Huntley has…[Read more] -

No doubt Shelley has played a tougher schedule than Wilson, but watching the two play, Wilson looked like the better QB and posted better stats. Maybe Shelley would have looked like an All-American against BYU’s schedule while Wilson would have struggled to complete a pass against Utah’s schedule. We will learn a lot about just how good Wilson is…[Read more]

UteThunder started the topic A few thoughts on the Spring Game in the forum Football 5 years, 8 months ago
I’ve been too busy lately to sit down and watch the Spring game but finally got around to it.
Huntley looks much improved. He does look bigger, as someone else mentioned before, but he will always be slight. He’s just not a big frame guy. I was most impressed by the touch on his passes. He wasn’t just rifling the ball in there every time. He…[Read more] -
UteThunder replied to the topic The BYU Honor Code Protest in the forum They So Poo Poo 5 years, 9 months ago
Didn’t BYU already change the rape shaming portion? And I’m sorry, but if you join a private club that requires you to abide by some weird rules like not growing a beard, then as long as you knew about them when you joined then you really have no business protesting those rules. This is one of the big problems in society today – too many people…[Read more]

I can’t help but laugh at the people protesting. They CHOSE to attend that university knowing full well about its honor code and the way it is enforced. If they don’t like it, then they should transfer to another school. Period. End of story.

Ron Mcbride is the most BELOVED football coach in University of Utah history. He restored Utah football to a consistent winner and he was just so likeable. To many, he was like a father or an uncle or grandfather. And it seemed quite clear that Utah is the place he wanted to be.
Urban Meyer is the BEST football coach in University of Utah…[Read more] -

First of all, the name of the league. AAF? Doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue.
Second, the team names, logos, and uniforms all remind me of the fake teams you would see in a football movie like Any Given Sunday. So ugly and lame.
Third, and most important, is the talent level. A bunch of fringe NFL guys playing with a bunch of washed up NFL…[Read more] -

UteThunder replied to the topic Let's pump the brakes on Ludwig's offense averaging 36.9 ppg in 2008 in the forum Football 5 years, 12 months ago
No, I think y’all are missing the point. I’ve laid out how, while Ludwig’s offense didn’t score 37 ppg it was a full TD per game better than Taylor’s which would be a huge improvement and people are acting like I’ve said Ludwig sucks and will be worse than Taylor. The reaction to my OP is quite bizarre.

UteThunder started the topic Let's pump the brakes on Ludwig's offense averaging 36.9 ppg in 2008 in the forum Football 5 years, 12 months ago
It didn’t happen!
Utah did average 36.9 ppg that year AS A TEAM, but when you take out defensive and special teams touchdowns the offense averaged only 33.7 ppg. Ludwig’s offense was also gifted 5 FGs that year. What I mean by that is, the offense took over in FG range due to defense or special teams play and his offense wasn’t able to get a…[Read more] -
UteThunder started the topic Thoughts on Ludwig Hiring in the forum Football 6 years ago
After having a little more time to digest the news of Ludwig being hired, here’s how I see it.
It’s not the most exciting hire, but I’m glad we didn’t go with Harding or some unproven/inexperienced guy. We were hoping for a homerun big name hire. Ludwig feels like a single stretched into a double off of a fielder error.
Quite possibly the best…[Read more] -

UteThunder replied to the topic Ludwig would only be slightly better than Harding….. in the forum Football 6 years ago
Which part?
Only slightly better than Harding? I haven’t checked the stats, but I would bet Ludwig’s offense the first 4 years he was here was only marginally better than Harding’s, statistically speaking.
Risky proposition with Whit’s fate tied to Ludwig’s? It’s just one man’s opinion, but look at the facts. Ludwig was viewed as not good enough…[Read more]
