  • I haven’t visited that cesspool since late July or early August. The vitriol and hate at that place was(and I would assume still is) toxic.

I’m very grateful to have UteHub.

  • How many times had Urban Meyer done that before we hired him? Whittingham? Zero and Zero. What a couple of bad hires they turned out to be.

  • Very disappointing on multiple levels.
Several segments of the movie had a similar feel to the general crapiness of Episodes I, II, and III with cheesy characters and several scenes taking place in a casino? They tried to draw too many parallels to current politics. And the worst part is that the story was boring. I found myself on the verge of…[Read more]

  • All conference champions are NOT guaranteed spots in the NCAA tournament(aside from the Ivy League). There are conference champs who get left out of the NCAA tournament all the time. It is the teams who win their conference tournament who are guaranteed a spot in the NCAA tournament. And because of that, we routinely see teams who were only good…[Read more]

If we didn’t have so many other recent examples of first year OCs who had to deal with inexperience, injuries, difference in coaching, etc. then I would be inclined to agree with you. Schramm, A-Rod, Chow, BJ, DC, Hard-Rod all put offenses on the field that were comparable to, or better in some ways, than Taylor’s offense. Interestingly, other…[Read more]

BYU returned more starters than we did, the game was in Provo, and we were extremely fortunate to pull out the last second win in 2016. I figured with all of the talent we lost and them having more experienced coaches and players than the year before that they would get the win. As it turned out, we put ourselves in a position where they had the…[Read more]

I expected 7-5 but thought 6-6 was a likely outcome. So I guess you could say my expectations were met.

    However . . .

After starting the season 4-0 with a win over BYU(a game I had us losing), of course my expectations went up. And then looking at each individual game we lost, there were at least 3 games where the expectation changed from a loss…[Read more]

  • There have been rumors/suspicions of a divided team – Team Huntley vs Team Williams
I think the coaches are trying to kill that divide by going exclusively with Huntley. If they play Williams, his side gets fuel for their fire. If they play Bateman it completely undermines a team captain and would add fuel to the Williams side in a different…[Read more]

    Utah?

    Nice edit.

  • UteThunder replied to the topic Our OL sucks. in the forum Football 7 years ago

I know that is what it looks like, but this is commonplace in coaching. Instead of risk losing an assistant, you give them a token title that doesn’t really mean anything but it justifies giving them a raise and the assistant sticks around.

In this case, I’m sure Whit was worried that a flatout demotion from Co-OC back to OL coach would make…[Read more]

  • This offense SUCKS.

  • Uh, no. It’s going to take a lot more than a 40 yard catch to make up for that fumble.

  • UteThunder replied to the topic 20 year Football Expectations in the forum Football 7 years ago

    Looking at it from a 5 year perspective . . .

    One 6 to 7 win season every 5 years(20%).

    Two 8 to 9 win seasons every 5 years(40%).

Two 10+ win seasons where we win the division and/or conference at least once(40%).

Using the past 3 seasons, we have the two 9 win seasons and one of the 10+ win seasons. I expected 7-5 this year and we appear…[Read more]

    Such an awesome last name.

How has Williams regressed? More like, how has he not regressed?

Completion percentage(53.1 to 50), yards/attempt(7.07 to 6.36), TD:INT ratio(1.9:1 to 1:2), and QB rating(121.0 to 102.2) are all worse this year compared to last.

I also don’t recall Williams abandoning a perfectly good pocket over and over again last year, though maybe I am just…[Read more]

Anyone still want to make the argument that the big difference between A-Rod and Taylor as OC isn’t simply QB talent?
The big knocks on A-Rod were lack of QB development, redzone production, completion percentage, WR drops, and stretching the field horizontally instead of vertically.
Taylor comes in with his “iPhone” offense and rightfully names…[Read more]

Sorry, but you are reading way too much into my question. I’m genuinely curious why we are recruiting a pocket passer when I’ve heard over and over for the last two months that Huntley’s ability to run the football was a better fit for Taylor’s offense.

At no point did I imply that the coaches don’t know what they are doing. If anything, I…[Read more]

  • Can someone tell me why we are recruiting him?
During Fall camp, speculation was that Huntley had a shot to win the starting QB spot because he was a better runner than Williams and because of that, Huntley was a better fit for Taylor’s system than Williams. Then Huntley won the job and his running ability along with how it fits with Taylor’s…[Read more]
