Going strictly off of what everyone has done so far, here is how I would rank them.
Colorado – Beat #17 TCU on the road.
Utah – Comfortable win over Florida at home.
Washington – Crushed Boise at home.
USC – Two dominating wins over SJSU & Nevada at home.
Oregon State – Dominated SJSU on the road.
WSU – Dominated CSU on the road.
Cal – Dominated…[Read more] -
UteThunder replied to the topic Gameday crew will come to SLC in the forum Football 1 year, 4 months ago
Chris Hill first started scheduling Thursday openers to accommodate fans who want to travel on Labor Day weekend. Harlan has kept it going, I would assume primarily for the same reason but there are obvious scheduling advantages to doing it this way.
Going back to 2003, we have only had 3 season openers that weren’t played on a Thursday.

How is this spiking the ball? It is commemorating a historic moment in our military history and paying tribute to those involved.

Didn’t his dad transfer to Utah from Utah State?

UteThunder replied to the topic Future OOC scheduling in the forum Football 1 year, 5 months ago
I would like to see Utah schedule as many games as we can against California teams not named USC or UCLA, as well as Texas G5s.
Utah State would be fun. Washington State and Oregon State would be good.
In addition to those, just continue to schedule one ‘A’ team from the other P4 leagues each year.

UteThunder replied to the topic Game times in the forum Football 1 year, 5 months ago
This is what I expect. Most of our home games will be in the late evening(5:00 kickoff or later), most of our road games will be in the earlier parts of the day(kickoff before 5:00). Games against BYU, Arizona, ASU, and Colorado (road or home) time slots will be a mixed bag depending on matchup intrigue.

UteThunder replied to the topic A lot of blame gets tossed at various schools in the forum Pac-12 1 year, 5 months ago
It seems to have been an effort to trim the P5 fat. They got rid of the 4 historically weakest and least popular teams from the Pac-12 in this round. Look for further fat trimming of the worst teams in the ACC in the next round.

UteThunder replied to the topic Oregon and Washington Didn't Show Up to the Friday Meeting. in the forum Pac-12 1 year, 5 months ago
They could have at least been professional about it and let everyone know they wouldn’t be attending, or show up and start the meeting with an announcement that they would be excusing themselves from the meeting because they had accepted an invite to the B1G. Letting everyone else show up under the assumption there would be discussion and a vote…[Read more]

UteThunder replied to the topic 2024 Potential Non-Conference Opponents in the forum Football 1 year, 5 months ago
I should add, depending on what happens with Oregon State, Washington State, Stanford, and Cal, there could be potential for non-conference games in 2024 with one or two of those schools.
Cal plays SDSU, Oregon State plays Boise State, and Washington State plays San Jose state. If those schools move the MWC, and/or Stanford goes independent, they…[Read more]

I would prefer SDSU. UCLA and USC are two teams I hope we don’t schedule ever again.

With our 2024 non-conference games against BYU(9/7) & Baylor(9/14) becoming conference games, leaving us with SUU(8/31) as our only scheduled non-conference game, here is a look at FBS teams with 2024 openings that match our new openings. I’m assuming BYU will be moved to November and Baylor will be pushed back anywhere from 1 to 10 weeks.
These…[Read more]

It’s a bummer, but I will just be relieved when we are officially in the BigXII.

UteThunder replied to the topic Non-Conference Schedule in the forum Football 1 year, 5 months ago
We need to keep our foot in California for recruiting. We should do everything we can to schedule games with San Diego State, San Jose State, Fresno State, Cal, and Stanford. I hope we never play USC and UCLA again.

UteThunder started the topic Where are the insiders? in the forum Football 1 year, 5 months ago
Back in 2010, there were several insiders on utefans.net giving updates on Pac-10 expansion.
We don’t seem to have any of that with this round of realignment, other than OnlyU – but his info seems to be limited to the football team.

UteThunder replied to the topic Question?: in the forum Pac-12 1 year, 5 months ago
With just USC/UCLA? Probably somewhere between $30 & $40 million per school.
If USC & UCLA had stayed AND we poached OK State, Texas Tech and two other BigXII schools? Between $40 & $50 million.

UteThunder replied to the topic Future of Randall and Harlan? in the forum Football 1 year, 5 months ago
Home schedules with Arizona, ASU, BYU, Colorado, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas Tech, etc. would be good enough to keep ticket prices where they are currently while demand is evaluated. If demand remains where it is, ticket prices would stay the same or slowly increase. If demand goes down, prices would have to go down, but probably only a little.…[Read more]

UteThunder replied to the topic BEST CASE SCENARIO in the forum Pac-12 1 year, 5 months ago
You make a good point, but in that scenario, from the ACC perspective, would those schools rather join an established BigXII with a lucrative TV deal (compared to what the Pac leftovers will have) or risk partnering with Pac schools in hopes of a good TV deal?
Obviously, TV contracts would be worked out in advance, but if the top dogs in the ACC…[Read more]

UteThunder replied to the topic Future of Randall and Harlan? in the forum Football 1 year, 5 months ago
Oh my, I hadn’t even considered ticket prices if we’re left out. They will have to drop prices by 50% if they want to keep filling the stadium with that kind of schedule.

UteThunder replied to the topic BEST CASE SCENARIO in the forum Pac-12 1 year, 5 months ago
There’s no incentive or pressure for the BigXII to invite us now. They can sit on 14 and wait to see who becomes available when the ACC implodes.

UteThunder replied to the topic BEST CASE SCENARIO in the forum Pac-12 1 year, 5 months ago
I would think a B1G invite would be most entertaining, or maybe a Pac & ACC merger that resulted in a deal in the neighborhood of what the B1G & SEC are getting.
