    This^

If you’re going to control and run clock you damn well better produce points at the end of those long drives.

Dominating time of possession limits possessions for the competition, but also limits your own number of possessions.

Ranking highly in TOP and ranking poorly in red zone efficiency is a bad combination.

Nonsense, you think Boise St pulls Jeanty from short yardage downs due to his “body type”? Did we pull Ty because of his body type?

MB is averaging 6ypc. He runs between tackles, he runs physical, he gets tough yards. He also makes us less predictable. We need to actually use MB instead of Mitchell in short yardage situations. He’ll get it done.…[Read more]

  • When we had to close out the OK St game and they knew what was coming, MB got the tough yards. Getting short yards might be helped with size, but it’s better to find a crease in the wall and hit it quick than slam into the wall.

Put your best back on the field, who also doesn’t have to tip your play.

As long as Lud can go back to using MB in the…[Read more]

  • Even after a bye week we have a top 15 RB in CFB averaging over 6 ypc. When MB is in the backfield defenses don’t know run/pass.

The problem with short yardage situations is Lud brings in Mitchell and runs him between tackles every time. Defenses know what we are going to do given the personnel on the field and they load the line.

    Even if we h…[Read more]

  • Those IW designed runs only happen with Charlie Vincent in the backfield.

Like when Mitchell is in the backfield he is getting the ball, between the tackles.

Like when Lohner is on the field (only happens in the red zone) he is getting the ball.

If we can see the patterns and predict the play calls, so can the opposing teams.

    At least Ludwig…[Read more]

  • You’re right.

Utah is 2 for 2 when playing for P4 conference championships with Cam Rising at QB.

Utah is 0 for 12 when playing for P4 conference championships without Cam Rising at QB.

The solution is simple. If we want to win a conference championship, we need Cam Rising at QB.

  • Win now is typically any program’s goal. A coach doesn’t have time and tolerance on his side.

Add to this taking the next step of CFP, the small and fleeting window of P2 opportunity and talent and experience on both sides of the ball, we have been in win now mode ever since that 2nd Rose Bowl.

Cam Rising gave us the best chance to win and max…[Read more]

  • Being cleared to play and throwing the ball effectively are two different things.

You think the doctors are opining on Cam’s velocity and spin rate?

Stop fixating on doctor clearance as if it’s the end all, be all. It isn’t in this case.

We have been literally armchair quarterbacking Cam Rising like we are capable of throwing a football to ti…[Read more]

    Indeed

  • Drake Troll is a hack and Utah hater.

Even if there’s a shred of truth to anything he says about us, he has no credibility.

    I don’t click, I don’t listen.

No humble brag intended here, just want to second your comment with this. I told my son before the game we would have to score more than 24 to beat Zona.

    Overall Defense did its part.

Burning 20 minutes and 3 precious possessions with 3 points to show for it, that’s where we lost this game. It’s how we got behind in the score and imbalanced and…[Read more]

@Jim, it wasn’t having a big back in TT that made us red zone elite for 1 season (yes, just 1 season). It was TT’s elite vision combined with a really good OL.

Yes, TT was big, but he was 4.8 slow and mediocre after contact, not nearly as physical a runner as his size suggested. His height played a part, he ran pads high. But, TT could see the…[Read more]

Our reality flipped over the weekend falling in the standings and rankings behind a certain eager overachiever in the B12 conference.

That fanbase will be or is already projecting based on 2 conference games as they are prone to do. We know not to do the same. We know from experience that this is a war of attrition and some battles are lost.…[Read more]

  • You want a bruising back that gets 2-3 yards every time?

This fanbase fascination with Armand Shyne just keeps on going.

Did you assume we’d be 4-1 with Cam or with a FR QB?

I think if we adjusted our expectations to the latter we would be good with our current position.

The future on the other hand…coaches have to be better, we need a smart Cam Rising back, we need Reid back, some luck at RB and a fire in the belly week in/week out.

If not, plates of crow for…[Read more]

I agree Central, Isaac uses WR more than Cam.

Let me say I have Cam as my Utah QB GOAT and posted this here with mixed response. This is because he wins conference championships, 2 for 2 when he plays a full season.

IMO he is a great leader and a great competitor. He is not a great QB. He doesn’t have arm talent, at least not since the s…[Read more]

Every RB, college and NFL is running hurt in September and throughout the season. It goes with the position. So, that in no way says MB is less durable or injury prone (see label slapped on JJ last year).

For the record, if the goal is season long activity and career longevity, I don’t think any RB should be getting 25 carries a game. What I t…[Read more]

What has surprised people about MB is his durability and workhorse capability.

The narrative, which I never believed, was MB couldn’t carry a full workload. Whitt was saying just last week MB is not a 25 carry a game guy. Well, Coach…
