I’m with Rick, Guillory is a talent we should all be excited about. Many blue blood offers. Tape is great, north south runner, burst, vision. Talent plays, don’t care about age.

Yep, we should be promoting Raycine Guillory. Have you seen his offer list?! Georgia, Ohio St, Michigan… He’s a talent.

Ty was all world as a FR. Zack was impactful as well. We played the wrong Freshmen in Wilmore and Brumfield, should have been Bernard.

We have had ready FR RBs, need to become more reliant on them. Not saying you do it with bigger learning curve positions (QB), but RB is not one of those positions.

Spring camp will reshuffle the deck and flush out more talent. I think it’s smarter to wait for supply and talent replenishment than to commit to current limited supply.

We should probably also count on our 2 incoming freshmen to deliver. They’re more talented than what is in the portal currently and underclassmen have been delivering in CFB for…[Read more]

He is a missing piece for us. Say what you want about NM and UNLV backups that joined us, the staff isn’t done recruiting RB. We need at least two RB1’s and we have one.

Surprise move from Woods. Was it strictly a money move for him? Playing opportunity was here for him.

    Followed Bajakian there

My angle was more had we moved on from Cam earlier with Ludwig at the OC helm, 2024 might have looked something like 2023. This would have kept Ludwig in place and wouldn’t have brought on this needed change this early. Call it 2024’s silver lining.

  • Yergensen replied to the topic Status of Utah football in the forum Football 3 months ago

Ludwig wasn’t getting changed out after those RB runs, rarely do you see change during periods of success.

Wasn’t going to happen after 2023 either when many thought the coaches did a really good job of triage despite being the actual cause of the mortal wounds.

I’m afraid had we not heavily relied on Cam’s return to health and gotten adequat…[Read more]

Short answer is yes, Ludwig used NJ incorrectly.

Static pocket, multi read. Should have moved the pocket more. Should have been one read and run. No QB option, all handoffs went to RB. QB designed runs were strictly inside, never attacked the edges with his speed.

It was another instance of Utah QB malpractice. Square peg mashed onto round hole.

Almost 6 minutes in and haven’t yet scored our first B12 points.

    Off to a great start.

  • Of course, why not.

  • Based on HS tape on the two, which is all we have to go on with Clegg, it’s not close.

Clegg was a game wrecker. Explosive, physical, beast. Spin it however you want, he’s a big loss. Very disappointing.

  • Bentley 2 catches for 15 yards

    Ryan 10 catches for 113 yards + 1 TD

    What were you watching?

Bentley made many of us wonder why he was even on the field while Ryan made us wonder why we didn’t get him the ball more.

  • Anyone watching Ryan and Bentley this season saw a clear talent difference. We lost the better talent.

  • Yergensen replied to the topic Trejan Bridges in the forum Football 3 months ago

Didn’t say Beck has brought in no individual talent.

I love/like Dampier, Parker and Whittmore. But 2 of 3 came from our new staff’s prior schools.

Beyond those 3, the individual talent isn’t impressive. It really can’t be argued.

Based on this I presume and have to hope they fit and complement Beck’s system, that his system works and his syste…[Read more]

    And…?

Not impressed so far with Beck’s recruiting reach.

Beck better deliver a system that doesn’t depend on individual talent because he isn’t recruiting individual talent.

  • May not seem like a big deal, but it’s a win.

Retention counts just as much, if not more, than getting a new recruit.

  • Hopefully, but naked eye can’t see the potential right now based on UNLV performance or recruiting profile.

The problem with Whitt’s coaching network is that it is small and Utah bound. It rarely includes a guy with reaches into major recruiting areas. Dennis Erickson was one of those exceptions. Beck, Detmer and Atuaia are just 3 more BYU guy…[Read more]

  • Atuaia is recruiting RB like he is still at Wazzu. In fact, he recruited Green when he was at Wazzu.

Have to level up. Green hasn’t shown anything to warrant a spot on our roster.

Our RB room still has a ways to go.

Williams’ X changed from Utah football affiliation to Colorado late this morning.

Normal portal stuff, but Deion’s a problem. How do we get the Dallas Cowboys to hire him away?
