I agree this was a factor Miami.
However, on multiple occasions we have been beaten in the trenches by blue blood talent and 2019 Texas was one example of that.

We may get a 2nd shot at JM thru the portal and being his hometown team could be advantageous.
Josh Pate was on ESPN 700 within the last month. He said UCF will be a recruiting force in the Big 12 given its location. They will miss out on Florida talent coming out of HS, but will bring them home when Florida talent hits the portal the first,…[Read more]

I think we’re going to find out how durable MB is, I don’t see anyone taking his touches. But Whitt did say it’s still a committee.

Concern over Micah Bernard being the bellcow is purely an issue of cognitive dissonance and not an issue of productivity.
We were led to believe or made ourselves believe that Micah couldn’t carry a full game load. Well, apparently he can for 1 game anyway and be quite productive doing it.
Micah Bernard, underrated since 2020.

Goes against every fiber of his being, but don’t shut down Isaac and the offense.
Go up tempo where Isaac is playing more on instinct and thinking less. Get him some easier throws early, work in more motion, build his confidence. Show him some trust instead of the opposite, like emphasizing no turnovers ad nauseum.
If you can’t give some lea…[Read more]

Yergensen replied to the topic Is our run game really that bad? in the forum Football 3 months, 2 weeks ago
Big bruiser backs are overrated by Utah fans. We seem to be willing to trade versatility for 3 yard situational runs all while tipping off defenses.
Bernard’s 120 yds and 6.2 yds per carry against stacked boxes yesterday is very good. Focus on the productivity, that’s what matters.
Bernard on the field also doesn’t have to tip off defen…[Read more]

Barnes made 2 throws in that Rose Bowl, not were low difficulty. Let’s not put him on a pedestal now.

Cam Rising doesn’t get hurt on that play if he doesn’t run. Throw the ball away plain and simple. How has that not been his plan B for this season?

Whitt is the GOAT, that does not mean he doesn’t have blind spots. QB is a big blind spot for him.
The worst thing Whitt can do to Isaac right now is to distrust him, to short leash him, to take the ball out of his hands.
Unfortunately until Cam is back, Whitt is going to play Whitt ball. He’s going to run the ball at stacked boxes, make low ris…[Read more]

Who and why? When Tavion was on the field it was a tell because he could do only one thing. Micah and Dijon can do it all, so it’s not them. Who’s the tell and why?

Yergensen replied to the topic The thing that concerns me most about Baylor in the forum Football 3 months, 3 weeks ago
Our struggles against mobile QBs is specific.
It’s not about QB designed runs. It’s not QB running to escape a collapsing pocket.
It’s QB/RB run option involving a running QB and a good RB. That’s what our bugaboo is.
It wasn’t DTR and AR. It was DTR + Charbonnet and AR + Johnson + Etienne that gashed us.

JJ was a loss for us, don’t know that we can replace his physicality combined with big play ability. We’d be even better with him.

Yergensen replied to the topic Give Isaac Wilson a break in the forum Football 3 months, 4 weeks ago
Isaac Wilson is going to be a baller.
If you look at the good from last night (back shoulder TD throw, arm strength, escapability/big run downfield, eyes downfield when scrambling) he has all the tools. He’s going to be fun to watch, can’t wait.

Yergensen replied to the topic my grades for the game in the forum Football 3 months, 4 weeks ago
A lot of good. First game, so some rust and some bugs to work out.
Oline was disappointing both in run blocking and pass pro. Against SUU that can’t happen.
Hard to assess the run game given OL did not dominate an FCS line, but Bernard and Stanley had the juice while Mitchell and Glover (once again) did not. The solution here might simply be t…[Read more]

Fearful and insecure haters want to make it seem like Utah Football isn’t a national brand, that it is an unknown outside the state.
Here are some of the Utah Football Brand characteristics from national, not local, media:
“Death, Taxes, Utah Football” – Joel Klatt
“The Big 12 is absolutely not ready for the ball of razor blades and napalm…[Read more]

Denver fan and media favorite. Recently took a paycut to make things work. Ironically, Vele making TP expendable is one of the factors.
