Micah got 8 carries the last 2 games of 2020, none for Brumfeld or Wilmore. In fact, I don’t remember either one appearing in the last 2 games. Clearly it was made known to them that Micah was RB2. They didn’t play at the end of the season and hit the portal days after season end.

MB was behind only Ty Jordan in 2020. Backed Ty up, was 2nd RB in rotation. You’re thinking 2019. Both Wilmore and Brumfeld transferred out in 2020 offseason despite the loss of Ty.

I think throughout Micah’s career we’ve given him a full workload in 2 games at start of 2021 season. That’s it. So, he didn’t prove durable in those 2 tests and he’s been on a pitch count ever since? The only durability or health issue I’m aware of are the cramping issues and those don’t seem to be wear and tear.
Here are the stats from those 2…[Read more]

Why isn’t Micah an every down back? He does everything well including run between the tackles.
The short yardage bruiser that we seem to be so fond of is pretty much obsolete in today’s game. The running back model today looks more like Micah Bernard and less like Tavion Thomas.

Yergensen replied to the topic TE Question????? in the forum Football 5 months, 2 weeks ago
This is a non-issue. Behind Kuithe is Carsen Ryan a 4* 90, Landen King 3* 89 and CJ Jacobsen 3* 88.
We’ll be fine at TE this season and in the future.

Utah football under Coach Whitt fact: we start slow.
While the schedule is favorable, it starts fast with 2 of our 3 toughest conference games.
Get both of those and we’re cooking with gas.
Start slow and we’ll be dealing with a smaller margin for error.

Until BYU proves in their recruiting that the honor code, academic standards and weird culture are not limiting factors, they won’t get there.
They’ve been last for years and current 2025 class is last as well vs. B12 recruiting.

UCF was 4th in B12 recruiting last year, 1st so far this year. They’re going to be a problem.

DL is a question mark occasionally and is again this year.
In 2022 the front 4 got little pressure and Scalley had to blitz, a lot.
Who is going to get pressure off the edge this year? Fillinger hasn’t proven himself in 3 yrs, O’Toole has very little game experience/production and Fano is coming off his 2nd ACL.
We could well have someone ste…[Read more]

Ok State QB is a game manager. I’d be interested from our new Ok State friends where he falls on the game manager spectrum. Is he JJ McCarthy, Bryson Barnes or somewhere in between?
We saw first hand last year what a game manager QB can and can’t do.

Myles said he had one question for Utah coaches when he visited this week.
I assume it’s the question you note CCU.
It would be the question I would ask Utah if I were a WR. The stats don’t lie, our WR use is low. So, will Whit ever commit to a vertical pass game?

“A short 4 picture read.”
I expect that this misperception of Utah by B12 fans created by our Twitterphiles will be helped with face to face fan interaction at home and away games. In my experience we’re generally good to other fans.
Our Twitterphiles have for certain written a check I hope our team can cash. Hate what they’ve done, because…[Read more]

Conference titles aren’t easy to win. While our Twitterphiles have pounded their chests you’ll find a more realistic group here.
P2 inclusion of us will take some planets aligning. But some talking heads include us in the conversation for what it’s worth.
Until then it looks like we’re conference mates again whether we like it or not.

Yergensen replied to the topic Time for Utah’s uniforms to get refreshed in the forum Football 6 months, 1 week ago
The solution is pretty simple for me and doesn’t involve a redesign or firing UA (my hope and dream).
Adopt the throwback red and whites, white and whites as the go to standard. Use the red and silver and the go to throwback. Retire red, black and white. Stop switching.
Do a special uniform and/or helmet once a year.

Yeah, we brought in transfers each of the past 2 seasons and played them ahead of recruited talent.
It was apparent we lost Medlock over this (transferred to a good program btw) and could have lost Fotu.

Graduation, draft declarations, retirements, return missionaries, PTO scholarship awards etc. all factor.
All teams have same scholarships, but in any given year none of them have the same returning players on scholarship due to all of these factors mentioned. So, recruiting class sizes vary accordingly.

Class ranking is not the right metric. It factors quantity of recruits/class size. So you can have a small class of 10 recruits whose avg recruit score/talent score is 90 (see Colorado) and another team whose class of 25 recruits with an avg recruit score is 85 (see BYU) and the latter gets a higher class ranking.
The key recruiting metric is the…[Read more]

Yergensen replied to the topic Strengths and weaknesses going into our 2024 football season in the forum Football 6 months, 3 weeks ago
IMO – Edge rush is a question mark. I think we tend to overrate edge rush, we tend to think it’s always a position of strength or at least never a weakness.
For us to take the next step, our DL and OL as well have to be able to hold their own and even get the edge on top 20 teams. We seem to be outmatched in the trenches against top c…[Read more]
