Yergensen replied to the topic UNLV transfer RB Devin Green commits to Utah in the forum Football 3 hours, 28 minutes ago
Hopefully, but naked eye can’t see the potential right now based on UNLV performance or recruiting profile.
The problem with Whitt’s coaching network is that it is small and Utah bound. It rarely includes a guy with reaches into major recruiting areas. Dennis Erickson was one of those exceptions. Beck, Detmer and Atuaia are just 3 more BYU guy…[Read more]

Atuaia is recruiting RB like he is still at Wazzu. In fact, he recruited Green when he was at Wazzu.
Have to level up. Green hasn’t shown anything to warrant a spot on our roster.
Our RB room still has a ways to go.

Yergensen replied to the topic Jo Williams Colorado Visit in the forum Football 1 day ago
Williams’ X changed from Utah football affiliation to Colorado late this morning.
Normal portal stuff, but Deion’s a problem. How do we get the Dallas Cowboys to hire him away?

Yergensen replied to the topic Utah just landed Wayshawn Parker!! in the forum Football 3 days, 1 hour ago
Great news on Parker, I believe he is a legit P4 talent and will replace MB.
However, I’m not sold on anyone else in our RB room. I don’t know that we’re any better off than we were in 2024.
Mitchell – 3.4 YPC, was hurt and boxes were stacked, MB averaged 5.1 YPC against same conditions, but was healthy.
Washington – 4.6 YPC against middl…[Read more]

Competition as in…
Too close to call;
Neck and neck;
Dead heat.
Only to end with the wrong guy, a practice hero and real game stage fright, starting and losing a game or two.
Yeah, no thank you. Give Dampier the job now and move forward. Isaac has a lot of learning, growing and confidence building to do.

Thanks for the correction Miami.
I had “playoffs” on the brain.

Yergensen replied to the topic Nate Johnson in the forum Football 6 days, 19 hours ago
Oh, hell no. Let’s not make the same mistake yet again making an unproven and known practice hero a starter based on, in Jim Mora’s words, practice?!
IW spends time learning, watching and applying what he’s learned in practice and garbage time. After a year he can compete for a starting role again, but not this next year.
I think we all prefe…[Read more]

Yergensen replied to the topic What were the rumors about Wilson? in the forum Football 1 week, 2 days ago
This is a good idea. Lud or whoever was in control, did not utilize Nate to his strengths. Beck’s system is a much better fit.
Nate may be willing to come back in a backup QB role given his situation. And we need 3 backup QBs if I’m not mistaken.

Hope Williams and McNair stay with the team. I assume Whitted was their primary recruiter.

Yergensen replied to the topic Honest question, who is Dampier going to throw to? in the forum Football 1 week, 4 days ago
ZWilliams is legit talent, 4* and showed it off in small sample this year.
McNair is a high 3* who was well recruited.
Watch highlights of both, they’re good.
You can argue we lack experienced WR and the room isn’t full. However, we have some talent to build around.
Have to keep these guys in the fold and add some guys that Beck likes. I lik…[Read more]

Right, this will come full circle in terms of NIL control due to regulation or donor ROI as well as player integrity in NFL teams’ eyes as you note. NFL team player interviews and research is extensive, they cross off players today for less than team hopping.
However, we’re probably a few years away from this. As others have labeled it, we’…[Read more]

There isn’t a single football player that comes out of HS NFL ready. Development and performance in college football, even for the most talented, is a hard requirement just to be considered by NFL and playing time is a critical element of both. So, development and playing time are still an effective recruiting and retention strategy, but you h…[Read more]

Will Ryan Smith be able to draft any BYU player that he funds with NIL?

Opposite for me…Ryan was an underused playmaker while apparently King can only run a corner route even when he’s supposed to go post.

Fine by me.
Zach threw more TDs to Utah (3) in Holy Wars than he did to BYU (2).

Great, clean slate.
No square pegs, round holes.
Get the guys you want to run your offensive scheme.
Cut all ties between the existing coaching staff and players and existing coaches are less likely to interfere.
However, Cam Rising is an elephant in the room. Until you tell Cam, the existing team and all prospects that Cam will not be here,…[Read more]
